Name: Russ Pecoraro
Title: QA Manager
Hometown: San Diego, CA
How did you first get involved with LeaseLabs?
I was recommended to the previous QA Manager by one of his former coworkers.
How long have you been with LeaseLabs?
I’ve been with the team for a little over two years. When I first started, I was a QA Specialist. I was promoted to QA Lead and became manager a few months ago.
As QA manager, what are your roles and responsibilities?
My primary responsibility is to run the QA Department. As a department, our responsibility is to make sure all the products we are responsible for are tested and maintain the quality standards of our company.
With so many moving parts and a vast number of projects at any given time, how do you stay on top of not only your work, but also keep the department organized?
Clear communication with some help from Google Sheets. I have a project tracker that I’ve built out. It’s one of the first things I did when I moved into more of a leadership role. As QA manager, it was a way for me and the team to keep track of all the projects on our radar. At any given time, I’d say we are aware of about 30 different projects, and we are actively working on about 6 projects or so. Knowing what round of QA each project is in, how many bugs this has, and who’s the point of contact for development, really all the information can be easy to lose track of.
Is everyone on your team as organized?
Yeah, my team is extremely organized and we all collaborate on the same overall agenda. While everyone does have a sense of ownership for their projects, we all help each other out wherever we can. Everyone on my team is extremely hard working, super dedicated, and has a very strong eye for detail.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My team is the best part of my job. Without them, the environment would be completely different and I don’t think I’d like my job nearly as much. Your team impacts your work and fortunately, I have a great one.
How was your team formed?
I was able to build a lot of the team. Chris and Robby worked with me previously, and Kat joined us last winter. She’s been a great addition and has adapted so well to our team.
What is your most fond LeaseLabs memory?
My fondest memories were walking to The Marketplace Deli, which we all affectionately called “The Market”, on a near-daily basis. It was located close to our previous location on 5th Avenue. Just getting out of the building for a bit with your coworkers, and being able to enjoy some really good food, it was good stuff. We have gas station runs now, but it’s just not the same as The Market...
How do you like to spend your free time?
Outside of work, I really enjoy hiking. I try to go to Mission Trails whenever I can. I also like hiking Iron Mountain and checking out new places I’ve never been before with my girlfriend. I also probably spend more time playing video games than a grown man should (and it’s still not enough).
