Title: Account Strategist | Project Manager
Hometown: Mount Airy, Maryland
What brought you to San Diego?
College originally. I wanted to get very far away from Maryland (smiling) … so I went to the University of Redlands near Palm Springs. My mom was scheming to move to San Diego and my parents moved here right after I graduated.
As an Account Strategist | Project Manager, can you explain what you primary responsibilities are?
I have a portfolio of clients and I make sure that everything they sign a contract for, gets done. From the moment the contract gets signed, I like to familiarize myself with the client’s goals. From there, I make sure the tasks are pushed to the right team members who can complete those tasks and I report back to the client. Essentially I am a communicator and I ensure we are delivering marketing strategies that meet the client’s goals, on a deadline.
How do you stay organized with so many moving parts?
Well, my calendar usually looks like a rainbow. I make a lot of calendar reminders for myself and I usually have one or two notebooks at my desk because I like to write everything down.
How did you first get involved with the LeaseLabs team?
I started here a year ago as an Implementation Specialist. I worked on the Web2Print Social platform and our Email Marketing System. Six months into working with LeaseLabs, I went on vacation and when I came back I had a new desk and a new role as an Account Strategist! A few months after that I was promoted to an Account Strategist | Project Manager.
It truly amazes me how much growth opportunity there is here at LeaseLabs. I have had three roles in one short year and there is still so much room for growth. I love my job, there is never a dull day.
What’s the average day in the office look like for you?
There is no average day for me! My day always starts with a few cups of coffee! I check my email, and then check in on the vast array of projects I’m working on. The projects change pretty frequently so I have to make sure I stay on top all the changes and prioritize accordingly. Usually, I have a few calls with clients scheduled each day so I look at my rainbow calendar and plan my day based on that.
Something I’ve been really enjoying about my job is going on client-related work trips. Recently, I’ve traveled to Virginia for Harbor Group, Nashville for Lincoln Property Company, and Huntington Beach for the Apartment Internet Marketing Conference.
What part of your job are you most passionate about?
I love when clients come to me with a goal they would like to accomplish and I am able to help them achieve that goal easily and quickly. If there is a goal that I don’t directly know how to accomplish, there is always someone at LeaseLabs who does know — collaborative problem-solving at its finest.
That is great! Well, I heard you love to adventure and spend time outside! What type of adventuring do you do around San Diego?
I live in Ocean Beach so I walk Sunset Cliffs all the time. My boyfriend and I ride our bikes around Liberty Station in Point Loma — there is a shortcut to a bike path to Shelter Island that is a lot of fun. I also really love hiking Torrey Pines.
It sounds like you have a great work-life balance. What else do you love doing outside of work?
I love to travel — even small weekend getaways. I recently went to Portland; it was a great trip and I highly recommend visiting! Also on the weekends, I’m really big into brunching and checking out new brunch restaurants. But I always order breakfast — benedicts all the way.
Do you have any trips planned?
Yes! This summer, I’m going to Ireland, Copenhagen, Sweden, and Amsterdam. I’m so excited!
That’s awesome! What is your favorite LeaseLabs memory?
I have so many amazing memories here. I love all my coworkers; they make it really fun to come into work. If I had to choose one memory, I’d say it was when we did a fitness challenge with a few other San Diego companies and I showed up as a cheerleader but we were one team member down so Dana (our CEO) said “get in there” and I did the fitness challenge after having a mimosa AND wearing my casual cheerleading outfit. It was fun! And, hey, I got a great workout and farmer's tan out of it!
Lastly, tell me some fun facts about yourself.
- I have a San Diego Zoo pass and I try to go as often as possible.
- I don’t drink soda but I LOVE sparkling water. BUT I just read sparkling water is just as bad for your teeth as drinking a soda.
- I change my hair color often.
- My initials are ABC
